Both are selfish-individuals with "take what you want" attitudes", and it was one sided at best, Adam being the one who showed more devotion to Alyssa than Alyssa to Adam. When Alyssa became pregnant, she became distraught because of what she thought would happen to her business when she had to become a "mother". Though Adam was excited about having a child, he was overcome with grief at Alyssa's choices for what she wanted to do with the baby. Adam begged her to have the child and said that he would raise it if she would at least pay support. Alyssa agreed, but saying that she wanted to see the baby to keep up appearances and that Adam would "run errands" for her whenever she wanted.
Thus Alyssa gave birth to Kaiden, and set him and Adam up in an apartment, paying for their rent, baby supplies, food, etc. Adam did his best to be a good father while raising Kaiden, while also depending on Alyssa's financial support. Adam knew that Alyssa did not care for him, or for Kaiden, but only cared for how they could benefit her. So, when Kaiden became old enough, Adam began taking Kaiden with him when he would go stealing, teaching him everything that he knew; also teaching Kaiden that the only person he could depend on would be himself. Adam also warned Kaiden about the kind of person his mother, which caused a lot of strain between Alyssa and Kaiden when it came to visits.
Kaiden caught on quick to stealing, much like he did with everything else. Soon enough, Kaiden and Adam became partners in crime, during which Kaiden noticed he could easily navigate places he had never been before; he could find their objective just by looking at their building and creating a mental map or blue-print of the building. He didn't tell his father about this, choosing to keep it a secret instead.
Eventually Adam stopped running Alyssa's "errands", which would later prove to be a mistake.
One day, while Kaiden was out, policed busted into Adam's apartment and arrested him; an "anonymous" tip had lead the police straight to Adam, who had been the suspect in the long line of robberies, while being framed for others that he had not actually committed. Kaiden came home to find their apartment a mess, with Alyssa sitting at the kitchen counter. He immediately knew what had happened: Alyssa had sold Adam out to the authorities. Alyssa explained to Kaiden what had happened, and assured Kaiden that he would be next if he did not comply with her demands. Not wanting to end up in prison, Kaiden begrudgingly agreed to Alyssa's ultimatum: He became Alyssa's new errand boy, stealing information, equipment, and money from her competitors for herself and her partners, while also falling victim to Alyssa's emotional abuse.
Though Kaiden ran these errands for Alyssa, he made time to steal things for himself as well. Kaiden would steal tech that he could use to turn into his personal equipment, and would steal things that he needed in order to take care of himself.
When Kaiden gets caught by one of his mother's more dangerous competitors later on he is pulled out of trouble by Renegade, who had been on his trail through out the night. Eventually he returns to the favor to her and it ends up becoming a recurring cycle for them.

But I love his power so much. Being able to know the exact layout of a building by just looking at it, that's awesome! If I were to have that power, I would no longer of having to ask an employee or friend where the bathroom is at
